Our History from then to now…
The word Vapiano doesn’t actually exist. It was created from an old Italian proverb – “Chi va piano, va sano e va lontano”: which means “If you have an easy-going and relaxed approach to life, you’ll live healthily and longer”.
The first Vapiano opened on 22 October in Hamburg, Germany.
Two years later, the founders decided to set Vapiano on a world tour and today there are over 155 franchise restaurants across 32 countries:
Austria, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bosnia, Chile, Columbia, Czech Republic, Dubai, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Kosovo (opening soon) Kuwait, La Reunion, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, UK and USA.
Pasta is of course at the heart of what we do.
Handmade shapes, made each day in house, from Fusilli to Campanelle to Linguine and Tagliatelle are made fresh using the finest durum wheat semolina and water.
We also specialise in Pizzas (or in Germany, we have introduced the ancient recipe Pinsa), Antipasti, exceptional salads and homemade dolci.
Our restaurant design has evolved over the years but the notable Vapiano elements always remain including the open kitchens where guests can watch our chefs make each dish to order, spacious tables and mix of seating, from both high and low sharing tables, relaxed lounge sofa areas, solo window seating to watch the world go by and of course, stools around the iconic olive tree found in every Vapiano.
Fresh herbs on all tables, great music and friendly teams and the fact our guests are welcome to sit where they like and stay as long as they choose – this flexibility and freedom is one of the many reasons we are loved around the world.
The guest journey of ordering, has evolved from the original chip card, as we focus on a digital first solution for order and pay via QR codes in many of our global locations leading to higher guest satisfaction
